Festival at the End of the World

The brief for this this project was to create the branding, poster and merch for a music festival. I chose to focus on alt rock / pop punk / emo bands.

​The poster was the starting point for my designs. During my research I found that a lot of these bands used horror movie monsters (skeletons in particular) in their album covers, merch and tour posters. The zombie illustration played off this motif. I also discovered that hand-drawn illustration was commonly used.

For my merch, I flipped the illustration around so that you see the zombie crowd facing the band at the front. The illustration uses only black and white so that the print is working with negative space.
